Maybe it's just my corner of the internet, but the reaction I've been seeing to the Avengers:Endgame trailer has been a resounding "meh."

I guess the lesson to be learned here is that when you pull emotionally manipulative stunts that are ultimately pointless (such as killing off a bunch of characters and claiming it's permanent despite the fact that many of those characters have sequels lined up), your audience finds it hard to stay invested.

Oh wait, that's the lesson Marvel comics has been failing to learn for 30 years.

FWIW -- and take this with fistfuls of salt, because I'm going off a few vaguebloggy tweets scattered on the Twitters of some authors who I manually follow -- apparently some people are really mad about Black Panther beating out Infinity War in some award or other. (IW was the one with the bunch-killing, right?)

Gotcha. I got the impression it was a viewer-side thing, though I'm not sure if they meant fannish people as we'd imagine it (whether transformative or "curatorial"). It's really quite bizarre to me considering how well-received and critically acclaimed BP was from the get-go -- but then I wonder if I'm just surprised because of the influence of my corner of the internet, haha :P
