So today I found out that the NHS contact tracing app, in addition to at one point having run off an Excel spreadsheet, also can't really understand concepts like "walls" and "being on different floors of an apartment building." As a result, this happy helpful robot dutifully informed me that I was exposed to COVID-19 on July 20--a day I did not leave my home--and now I need to self-isolate until July 30.

Once again my sense of social responsibility bites me in the ass, because I intend to do what the dumb little bastard says. Just in case.

Which is unfortunate, because I was planning to go pick up my cat at the airport this week. On top of the considerable customs fees I've paid already, I now need to fork over even more money so she can be delivered to my self-isolating ass instead.

I've informed my family that for Christmas this year they're getting pictures of my $3000 cat. And nothing else.
