I've had the same Pokemon collection going since Gen III--the original Ruby and Sapphire games. I just kept transferring all my boxes to each successive generation, down through the decades, all the way to Pokemon Sword.
The practical upshot of this is that I now have somewhere in the ballpark of 900 Pokemon. And except in cases where I've been explicitly banned from doing so (looking at you, Gen V), I've rolled up to every championship battle of the last few generations with a party of 6 lv100 legendaries.

This battle strategy has been described over the years as "missing the point," "unnecessary," and/or "a war crime."
I have no intention of stopping.
